Mentoring Programme

Clinical Psychology Community UK Mentoring Programme

WHAT IS THE CPCUK MENTORING PROGRAMME?

The aim of this programme is to help widen access to clinical psychology, particularly for people from underrepresented groups.

The main focus of my mentoring is to help with:

ü  Job applications – all pre-qualified psychology roles (e.g. Assistant Psychologist, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, Research Assistant, etc.)
ü  Job interviews – all pre-qualified psychology roles (including mock interviews)
ü  DClinPsy applications
ü  DClinPsy interviews (including mock interviews)
ü  Undergraduate psychology degree support
ü  Reflective practice guidance
ü General support with managing the emotional rollercoaster!

 WHAT WOULD MENTORING LOOK LIKE?

This is fairly flexible and dependent on what you want to get out of it. There is a mentoring application form where you can detail the type of support you want and how you would prefer it to take place. I offer mentoring via phone, email, message (e.g. WhatsApp), and video call (Teams or Zoom).

As I work full time, most of the mentoring communications will need to be on evenings and weekends, although I have some flexibility to mentor in working hours, with enough notice. Generally, I plan to devote up to 1 hour per person per week.

Once you have submitted your application form, you will be contacted within 2-3 working days to inform you of the outcome of your application. I will endeavour to take on as many mentees as I can, but I am limited. Therefore, I will be operating a waiting list system and will contact you when a place becomes available. I will be prioritising those from underrepresented groups, but all applications are welcome!

HOW DO I APPLY?

Please read the Information Pack and fully complete the Application Form available on the Facebook Group HERE: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2385728461735587

Once you have submitted your application, you will be contacted within 2-3 business days in most cases with a decision.

As mentioned above, I will probably need to run a waiting list system to manage the demand.

Once you have been accepted, you will be sent a goals sheet to complete prior to your first meeting.

WHAT IF I HAVE QUESTIONS?

Please email me on clinicalpsychologycommunityuk@gmail.com if you have any questions!

THANKS

Thanks all,

Welcome!

Welcome to the Clinical Psychology Community UK blog! Thanks for visiting the Clinical Psychology Community UK (CPCUK) blog! I want to use this first post to give you some information about me, and what I want to achieve with CPCUK. INTRODUCTION TO ME My name is Holly Risdon and I currently work as an NHS Assistant Psychologist (AP) and run the Clinical Psychology Community UK YouTube channel, Facebook & Instagram pages. I have applied for the DClinPsy programme 6 times and been successful in gaining interviews for the last 3 years. This year, I have a reserve offer for a place on the Oxford course. I include this information to make it really clear that I am not yet a trainee clinical psychologist. I wanted to share my knowledge on applying for and interviewing for pre-qualified roles, as well as the DClinPsy. When I first graduated, I was totally unprepared for the real psychology world, and it took me years to get my first AP job. This is my solution! WHAT IS CPCUK? CPC...
