Thanks for visiting the Clinical Psychology Community UK (CPCUK) blog! I want to use this first post to give you some information about me, and what I want to achieve with CPCUK.

INTRODUCTION TO ME

My name is Holly Risdon and I currently work as an NHS Assistant Psychologist (AP) and run the Clinical Psychology Community UK YouTube channel, Facebook & Instagram pages.

I have applied for the DClinPsy programme 6 times and been successful in gaining interviews for the last 3 years. This year, I have a reserve offer for a place on the Oxford course. I include this information to make it really clear that I am not yet a trainee clinical psychologist.

I wanted to share my knowledge on applying for and interviewing for pre-qualified roles, as well as the DClinPsy. When I first graduated, I was totally unprepared for the real psychology world, and it took me years to get my first AP job. This is my solution!

WHAT IS CPCUK?

CPCUK is all about getting information out there for pre-qualified clinical psychologists. We specialise in reflective practice and providing information to help you achieve your career goals whether that be a place on a DClinPsy course, or getting an undergraduate psychology degree place, or getting your first job in psychology after graduation.

There are several strings to our bow here at CPCUK including:

  • Regular Instagram posts and stories focused on clinical psychology and my reflections as an Assistant Psychologist (https://www.instagram.com/clinicalpsychologycommunityuk/?hl=en)
  • A mentoring programme supporting you with job applications and interviews, reflective practice, DClinPsy applications and interviews, etc (see blog post) - FREE forever
  • FREE forever reflective and clinical practice templates (e.g. reflective models, formulations, etc.)
